Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Naveen Chawla died on Saturday. Former CEC SY Qureshi gave this information. Chawla was 79 years old.
Qureshi told ‘PTI-language’ that he had met Chawla about 10 days ago, at that time Chawla told him that he was being admitted to the hospital for brain surgery.
Qureshi said, “He died at Apollo Hospital this morning.” He said that he was very happy when he met him for the last time. In addition, an Election Commission official also confirmed Chawla’s death.
Qureshi posted on the social media platform ‘X’ and said, “It was sad to know about the demise of Naveen Chawla, former Chief Election Commissioner of India. May God give peace to his soul. “
Former bureaucrat Chawla was Election Commissioner between 2005 and 2009 and then Chief Election Commissioner from April 2009 to July 2010.
