Shimla, Sep 2 (IANS) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday said that the state employees have been waiting for their salaries for two days now as they have not received their salaries.
He said, “Employees are checking every message on their phones thinking that their salary has arrived. They are calling their colleagues and people from other departments to ask whether their salary has arrived or not. Till date, such a situation has never arisen in the state that employees have to wait for their salary.”
The BJP leader said that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu says that there is no financial crisis. When there is no financial crisis, then why are the employees not getting their salaries? The government should clarify the situation. When will the employees’ salaries and pensions of pensioners come? Employees have no other source of income, they have to maintain their families with their salaries only. In such a situation, how will the family run without salary?
He said that the employees bear all the expenses from their salary. From house rent to ration, electricity, water etc., all have to be paid in the first week of the month. Not being able to pay the loan installments is a big problem in itself, because due to this, penalty and financial charges have to be paid separately. This situation is not right in any case that the employees have to suffer the punishment for the actions of the state government. The Chief Minister should tell the state employees when their salary will come to their account.
A day earlier, Chief Minister Sukhu had said that there is no financial crisis in the state, rather the state government has been pushing forward reforms from day one and now its positive results are coming out. He said that the government is paying the arrears of 27 thousand pensioners above 70 years of age this year and all government employees have been given seven percent dearness allowance. Apart from this, the government is working for the welfare of all sections including farmers, laborers, gardeners, women and small shopkeepers. He also said that the government’s goal is to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant by 2027 and the richest state of the country by 2032.
