Gandhi family and Congress leaders did not attend the immersion of ashes of former PM Manmohan Singh, BJP alleged

New Delhi, December 29 (IANS). The mortal remains of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh were immersed in the Yamuna river near Majnu Ka Tila Gurudwara on Sunday by his family members with Sikh rituals.

Congress, while sharing the video of the immersion of ashes from its official account on social media platform Immersed at nearby Yamuna ghat. We all will always remember Manmohan Singh ji’s service to the country, dedication and his simplicity.

At the same time, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya alleged that no Congress leader was present at the time of immersion of the ashes of former PM Manmohan Singh. He also shared the photo on social media platform X.

Amit Malviya wrote on social media platform Congress was there to attract media attention and do politics, but when it came to giving him respect, he was missing. Really shameful.”

Let us tell you that on December 26, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh died at AIIMS, Delhi at the age of 92. His last rites were performed at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi on 28 December.

Earlier, Congress had accused the Central Government of insulting former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by not allotting him space for his memorial.

In fact, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge had written a letter to Prime Minister Modi requesting him to perform the last rites of the former PM at the same place where his memorial was built. But the Home Ministry replied that Nigambodh Ghat has been chosen for the last rites of the late Prime Minister and his memorial will be built in Delhi. This process will take time and a committee will be formed to find a suitable site.
