New Delhi, September 9 (IANS). ‘Gatishakti University’ will help military personnel from the Army and Air Force to gain expertise in logistics. Apart from this, Gatishakti University will also work to empower the armed forces in the field of logistics related education and research. On Monday, the Air Force and the Army signed an agreement with Gatishakti University in this regard.
The MoU was signed with Vadodara-based Gatishakti University in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi.
The Ministry of Defense says that this agreement will enable both the armies to gain better expertise regarding logistics. This MoU will also ensure the development of in-house expertise in various aspects of logistics operations. It will also effectively contribute to the national development plans, PM Gatishakti National Master Plan-2021 and National Logistics Policy-2022.
The Defence Minister termed this collaboration as a significant partnership for the vision of ‘Atmanirbharta’ in the defence sector. He said, “Logistics is no longer just a support function of the armed forces but is emerging as a critical component of military operations and national security. Efficient logistics systems play a vital role in ensuring that security forces move resources at the right place in a short time. Given the conditions in which our forces operate, we require seamless movement of troops, equipment and supplies. This MoU will prove to be extremely important in meeting the needs of our forces through knowledge, innovation and collaboration.”
Rajnath Singh said, “If we need expertise in the field of logistics, we should get its training from our own resources like Gatishakti University. If we need equipment, we should get it manufactured in India itself. The foundation of a strong India can be laid only by becoming self-reliant.”
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav expressed confidence that Gatishakti University will serve as an important partner in the process of empowering the armed forces with state-of-the-art logistics-related education, research and innovation. During this, CDS, Air Force Chief, Army Chief, Defense Secretary, Chairman of Railway Board and Vice Chancellor of Gatishakti University were present.
