Government accepted intelligence failure in Pahalgam attack, it should take responsibility for people's death: Kharge

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge claimed on Tuesday that the government has accepted the intelligence failure regarding the Pahalgam terror attack and in such a situation it should also take responsibility for the death of 26 people.

Addressing the ‘Constitution Bachao Rally’ of the Congress, he reiterated that the Congress will support every step taken against Pakistan sponsored terrorism and stand with the government.

Kharge, referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, said, “On April22, there was a huge terrorist attack in the country, killing 26 innocent people. The government admitted that it is intelligence failure and needs to be improved. He questioned, “When you know this (intelligence failure), why not already made good arrangements?”

Kharge insisted, “When you are accepting the lapse, you should also take responsibility for the death of so many people.” He said, “We will fully support whatever steps the government will take to fight against Pakistan’s terrorist activities.”

On April 22, at least 26 people were brutally murdered by militants in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Most of them were tourists. India has blamed terrorist groups associated with Pakistan for this dreadful incident.

Kharge also mentioned at the rally that he had reached Ranchi for the first time after the formation of ‘India’ coalition government in Jharkhand last year. He said, “I thank all the people of Jharkhand wholeheartedly. We all achieved majority because of you and today a strong government is going on in Jharkhand. We are all making promises made to the public. The ministers of our government, MLAs are all working well for the public. I also thank all this for this. ‘

Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) are also included in the coalition government led by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in Jharkhand.
