Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda said that the central government has decided to allot space for the memorial of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and has also informed his family about this. Along with this, the BJP leader accused Congress of doing ‘cheap politics’ regarding the last rites of Manmohan Singh.
Nadda’s reaction came at a time when the Congress has accused the central government of not providing a suitable place for the last rites of the country’s first Sikh Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, where his memorial could have been built later.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led central government has insulted the ‘great son of Mother India and the first Prime Minister of the Sikh community’ by conducting the last rites of Manmohan Singh at Nigambodh Ghat.
Nadda reacted strongly to Congress’s allegation and said, “It is very unfortunate that former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and current President Mallikarjun Kharge are not desisting from doing politics even on the tragic demise of the former Prime Minister.”
He said, “No amount of condemnation for such petty thinking of Congress is enough. Congress, which never gave real respect to Manmohan Singh when he was alive, is now doing politics in the name of his respect.
Nadda said the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allotted space for Manmohan Singh’s memorial and has also informed his family about it. “Despite this, Congress is spreading lies,” he alleged.
Nadda said, “Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and other Congress leaders should desist from such cheap politics.”
The BJP chief alleged that the Congress had “tarnished and insulted” the post of Prime Minister by making Sonia Gandhi the “super prime minister” over Singh. He said, “Not only this, there is no other example of the way Rahul Gandhi insulted Manmohan Singh by tearing the ordinance.”
The BJP president said, “The same Congress is today doing politics on the death of Manmohan Singh.” He alleged that the Gandhi family did not give respect to anyone except itself.
Nadda alleged that the Gandhi family did not do justice to Singh or any leader, whether from Congress or other parties. He cited the examples of BR Ambedkar, India’s first President Rajendra Prasad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, former Prime Ministers Lal Bahadur Shastri, PV Narasimha Rao and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Presidents Pranab Mukherjee and Sitaram Kesari.
“The Gandhi family has always disrespected all other big leaders (except family members),” the BJP chief said, alleging that Sonia Gandhi had rejected Rao’s request to build a memorial.
Nadda said, “His (Rao’s) mortal remains were not even given a place to be kept in the Congress office. Congress did not want his funeral to be held in Delhi. His last rites were performed in Hyderabad. It was Modi who built Rao’s memorial in 2015 and honored him with Bharat Ratna.
He alleged, “Even after Vajpayee ji’s death, Congress leaders and his supporters continued to insult him.” When Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee died in 2020, the Congress Working Committee did not even bother to call a condolence meeting.
Nadda said, “In 2013, the Congress government had decided to build a national memorial and had said that there would not be a separate memorial for any leader. It was Prime Minister Modi who built the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library so that the people of the country could know about him deeply and remember him.” The BJP chief said, ”…Congress built memorials only for its family members. He also asked the party to learn to respect Modi.
Nadda said that according to an estimate, around 600 government schemes, educational institutions, awards, roads, national parks, museums, airports, ports and buildings were named after members of the Nehru-Gandhi family by the Congress governments in the country. Were. “The number of schemes in the name of other celebrities can be counted on fingers,” he said. Our country will neither forget nor forgive the sins of the unprincipled Congress.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan criticized the Congress and Rahul Gandhi and said that it is very unfortunate that they have found it necessary to advance their political agenda at a time when the entire country is mourning the death of the former Prime Minister. He said in a post on ‘X’, ‘Is this not an insult to the former Prime Minister? Why are the sentiments of his bereaved family being mocked?
