New Delhi, November 15 (IANS). On the occasion of the 300th year of the birth anniversary of Goddess Ahilyabai Holkar, a special program was organized in the Trishati ceremony to convey her life and work to the present and future generations. This program took place at Dr. Shyama Prasad Civic Center in Delhi in which many eminent personalities participated.
Ahilyabai Holkar’s descendant Uday Raj Holkar, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) co-secretary Dr Krishna Gopal, former Delhi Police Director General Vimala Mehra, and Dr Upasana Arora, chairperson of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar Trishti Samaroh Samiti, participated in the programme. The objective of the program was to convey the great works and contributions of Ahilyabai to the masses.
Uday Raj Holkar, a descendant of Ahilyabai Holkar, said that this year is the 300th year of the birth anniversary of Ahilyadevi Holkar, which is being celebrated as tricentenary from 2024 to 2025. Nearly 1,200 programs have been completed so far in the year-long event. A big event will also be organized in Lucknow on 24th November. So far, participation of more than two lakh people has been recorded in these events. We do not just aim to invite people, rather we want to make Ahilyadevi’s contribution and personality accessible to everyone. He further said that Ahilyadevi’s life is an inspiration and we have to ensure that her inspiring teachings and works reach every person.
Former Director General of Delhi Police Vimala Mehra also expressed her views in this program. Emphasizing on the empowerment of women, he said that we need to empower women so that they can face any dire situation and fight for justice. Changes are coming in the police department now and we hope that in the coming years the number of women in the police department will increase to 40 percent.
Vimla Mehra said that change regarding women cannot happen overnight, but gradually this change is coming in the society. We have to make continuous efforts towards women’s safety and empowerment.
Dr. Krishna Gopal, co-government leader of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, threw light on the difficult period of Indian history and the contribution of women power in it. He said that a deep crisis started in our country from the seventh century, which increased severely after the 11th century. During this time our cultures, temples and Gurukuls were attacked and the safety of women was also in danger. In this difficult period, a woman prepared her son, whose name was Shivaji. The name of this woman was Jijabai.
Dr. Krishna Gopal said that Jijabai not only taught bravery to her son, but also groomed him into a great leader who not only protected our religion and culture but also gave a new direction to the country.
He said that the contribution of women in Indian society has always been important and great women like Ahilyabai Holkar worked to give direction to the society. He especially said that Ahilyabai not only showed her efficiency in state administration, but also played an important role in religious and cultural preservation.
