Sirsa (Haryana), Sep 16 (IANS) BJP candidate from Sirsa assembly seat in poll-bound Haryana, Rohtash Jangra, withdrew his nomination on Monday. If sources are to be believed, the party will now support independent candidate Gopal Kanda on this seat.
It is noteworthy that today was the last day to withdraw nominations for the single phase elections to be held in the state on October 5. The BJP candidate withdrew his nomination at the last moment. The ruling BJP had fielded its candidates on all 90 seats in the state, but now only 89 of its candidates are left in the fray.
Talking to reporters, BJP leader Rohtash Jangra said, “There is no specific reason for withdrawing the nomination. The Bharatiya Janata Party had earlier given the ticket, now it was the order of the organization, so I withdrew my nomination.”
The BJP leader further said that he had contested the Zila Parishad elections in 1994. After this, he contested the assembly elections in 2009. He has been associated with the party organization for 45 years, and “he has no grievances with the party regarding the withdrawal of nomination”.
Regarding the matter, former MP from Sirsa and senior BJP leader Dr. Ashok Tanwar said that Rohtash Jangra has been a dedicated worker of BJP since 1980. His entire family is dedicated to BJP. First the party gave him a ticket and then decided to withdraw his name. BJP has only one goal in the state that a BJP government should be formed under the leadership of Nayab Singh Saini for the third consecutive time. Further strategy will be made later.
Many BJP leaders including Dr. Ashok Tanwar were present with Rohtash Jangra at the time of withdrawal of nomination. An important meeting has been scheduled in the BJP office regarding this assembly seat. According to sources, the party may support independent Gopal Kanda here.
It is worth noting that in Haryana, which has 90 assembly seats, voting is to be held in a single phase on October 5. The results of all the seats will be declared simultaneously on October 8.
