Chandigarh, 2 March (IANS). Voting for 9 Municipal Corporation and 40 other bodies in Haryana started at 8 am on Sunday. There is tremendous enthusiasm for voting in various cities of the state, especially in Hisar and Faridabad, where voters have started reaching polling booths. In Gurugram too, voters were seen waiting for their turn.
Earlier, the election staff completed the mock polling process so that there is no problem in voting. Voting will run till 6 pm and an appeal has been made to exercise their rights. According to election officials, security has been tightened at all polling booths and all measures have been taken to ensure peaceful voting.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar cast his vote at the polling station in Prem Nagar of Karnal Municipal Corporation. Union Minister of State Krishna Pal Gurjar voted at the polling station in Sector 28. Apart from this, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij will also go to vote at the polling station in Shastri Colony in Ambala at 10 am today.
After casting votes, Manohar Lal Khattar urged voters to active participation in this important festival of democracy. He said that every vote is important in the election process, which plays an important role in the state’s prediction.
At the same time, Union Minister Krishna Pal Gurjar while talking to the media after voting said that the BJP is going to register the biggest and historic victory in the state. I can say with full confidence that the kind of trends that are, with the blessings of PM Modi and under the leadership of Chief Minister Saini, the BJP will win a big and historic victory in this election. I urge everyone to use their franchise and participate in the election process, as every vote contributes to strengthening democracy.
The process of municipal elections has started in Haryana today on 2 March. By-elections are being held only for the mayor in Ambala and Sonepat in the state, while ward councilors are being elected in Gurugram, Hisar, Rohtak, Faridabad, Manesar, Yamunanagar and Karnal.
The State Election Commissioner said that more than 55 lakh voters will use their voting. These include about 27 lakh men, 24 lakh women and 184 other voters and a total of 5126 polling stations. The election results will be declared on March 12. At the same time, the voting of Panipat Municipal Corporation will be held on 9 March.
