Jerusalem, October 15 (IANS). The head of Hamas’s air unit was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military and security agency said.
Israel’s army and domestic security agency Shin Bet gave this information in a joint statement. Hamas air operations chief Samar Abu Dakka was killed in a strike by warplanes in September, according to Xinhua news agency.
According to the statement, Abu Daqqa was involved in several drone strikes and played a central role in Hamas’ air campaign. Dakka was handed over the responsibility after aerial unit chief Asim Abu Raqaba was killed last year.
Israeli security officials said Abu Daqqa was also involved in an attack against Israel on October 7, 2023. He reportedly led Hamas’ paraglider and drone attack unit team in southern Israel.
There were 1,200 deaths in that sudden attack. After which a war situation arose in Gaza.
Gaza-based health officials informed in a statement on Monday that so far 42,289 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza.
