Nahan (Himachal Pradesh), Sep 4 (IANS) The financial crisis in Himachal Pradesh has deepened with the government employees and pensioners yet to receive their last month’s salary in their bank accounts. Meanwhile, BJP MP Suresh Kumar Kashyap on Wednesday termed the current Congress government in the state as a total failure.
The BJP MP said that the employees of Himachal Pradesh are yearning for their salaries and the pensioners are yearning for their pensions. This has happened for the first time in the history of the state. He said that the way the Chief Minister is crying about the financial condition of the state, it seems that the employees are not going to get their salaries for the next few days.
Kashyap said, “The Congress government of the state has completely failed in the last two years. The Congress government, which came to power by giving the slogan of system change, made false promises to the people of the state. But today the condition of the state is not hidden from anyone. The Congress government has also stopped the various facilities and schemes being given to the people by the previous BJP government.
It is noteworthy that the Himachal Pradesh government is to receive Rs 520 crore as revenue deficit grant from the Centre. This amount will come into the state government’s treasury on September 5. Only after this will the employees be able to get their salaries. The state government has to spend Rs 1,200 crore every month to pay salaries to government employees in Himachal Pradesh. Similarly, Rs 800 crore is spent every month to pay pension.
It is noteworthy that Himachal Pradesh government has a loan limit of Rs. 6,200 crore till December this financial year. Out of this, a loan of Rs. 3,900 crore has already been taken. Now only a limit of Rs. 2,300 crore is left. The state government has to manage with this limit till December. A separate loan limit will be approved by the Centre for the last quarter of the financial year from December to March. In such a situation, the state government will now face difficulty in paying salary and pension for the months of October and November after September.
