New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS) After being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan said he is innocent.
The ED arrested him today after a four-hour long interrogation. When the ED team was taking him away after arresting him, he said just this to the media waiting outside, “I am innocent…”
There are serious allegations against the AAP MLA like financial irregularities and illegal recruitment during his tenure as the chairman of Delhi Waqf Board, but he has been rejecting these allegations from the beginning. He claims that such allegations have been leveled against him as part of a political conspiracy, which have no truth in them at all.
As soon as the ED team reached Amanatullah Khan’s house with its officials on Monday early morning, the AAP MLA got angry. He started pleading that he was innocent and said that “you will not get anything from me”. At the same time, a person from the family of the AAP MLA, citing his mother’s illness, said that if anything happens to his mother, she will approach the court against the ED.
Before his arrest, the AAP MLA had posted on his social media handle about the ED raid. In this, he targeted the central government and said, “Early in the morning, on the orders of the dictator, his puppet ED has reached my house. The dictator is leaving no stone unturned to harass me and AAP leaders. Is it a crime to serve the public honestly? How long will this dictatorship continue?”
On the other hand, after the arrest of the AAP MLA, sharp reactions are coming from other leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party. AAP MP Sanjay Singh said on his social media handle regarding the arrest of Amanatullah Khan, “This arrest will cost the BJP very dearly. You will lose badly in Delhi. Amanatullah Khan has been arrested without any proof.”
AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “The central government is openly indulging in hooliganism. A rotten case was related to recruitment in the Waqf Board, in that case the then chairman of the board and our MLA Amanatullah Khan was made an accused. First there was a ruckus in 2016 that the ACB was investigating.”
