The incident took place on Monday in Adimali, where students of an aided school in Thrissur had come for a school visit with their teachers.

According to the information received, after having lunch, some boys of the group decided to smoke ganja and made beedis filled with ganja. After this he realized that he did not have matchsticks to light the beedi. Seeing a building full of dusty vehicles, the boys mistook it for a workshop and carelessly entered the building. Little did they realize that they had mistakenly walked into the local excise office – the same authority that handles illegal substances.

One of the boys came up to a man sitting inside and politely asked for a pair. The officer became suspicious of the boys and the officer sensed the boys’ intentions. A case was registered against both the students under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, from whom five grams of ganja and one gram of hashish oil and other banned substances were seized.
