Shivpuri, March 19, (IANS). A boat overturned on Tuesday in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. Three women and four children aboard the boat were drowned and 8 other people were rescued and taken out.

According to the information received, the boat carrying 15 people, including women and children on the island to celebrate Holi, overturned in Matatila Dam near Rajwan village in Khaniyadhana. Seven people riding in the boat were drowned, including three women and four children, while eight others came out safely. SDM Pichor Shivdayal Dhakad has confirmed this. On receiving information about the incident, the district administration team has reached the spot. The help of divers is being taken. NDRF is also being taken help for rescue operation

Those who drown are being searched. The SDRF team has also reached the spot. The drowers have been identified as Sharda (55) Kumkum (15 years) Leela (40) China (14) Kanha (7) Ram Devi (35) Shiva (8). Shivpuri SP has said that relief work has been intensified. The discovery of missing people has been intensified.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed grief about this incident. He posted on social media platform X. He wrote in the post, “The untimely death is very sad due to the sinking of some devotees in the unfortunate incident of overturning the boat carrying 15 devotees going for Fag Holi in the Siddha Baba temple located on the island built in the middle of Matatila Dam in Khaniyadhana police station area under Shivpuri district. Untimely death is extremely tragic. My sensation is with the help of bereaved families in this hour of grief. Eight people have been rescued. The nearest families of the dead have been instructed to release the financial assistance of 2-2 lakhs from the Chief Minister’s voluntary donation.
