India alliance MPs took out a protest against the Election Commission on Monday for the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in the election state Bihar and the allegation of “voter fraud” during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The Delhi Police was seen stopping the MPs who were raising slogans of “vote thieves” while marching towards the Election Office in the Election House.
A protest march began with the Capricorn Gate of Parliament House under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. The MPs started their march to urge the Election Commission to address their concerns on the alleged “voter theft”.
Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav, who was involved in the protest march, said, “Our democracy is being questioned. By -elections were held in 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, not only votes were stolen, but also booth capturing. Why did the Election Commission not take action against the officials working on the order of the state government?”
RJD MP Manoj Jha said that SIR is a “fraud” and accused the Election Commission of not providing classified data.
Jha said, “If you cannot meet MPs by making excuses for a shortage of space, then it is a proof in itself what kind of work you are doing. This (Mr.) is fraud;
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has said that opposition MPs have not sought any permission for March.
Reacting to the statement of the police, Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi said, “They never allow. They are using political language on the instructions of the government. The entire opposition will march under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. They will try to stop us, but we will try our best to reach the Election Commission office.”
Earlier, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said about March, “Rahul Gandhi is following the path of Gandhiji. He held a press conference, but the Election Commission is not ready to consider it, but is asking for an affidavit.
