New Delhi, December 19 (IANS). Leaders of ‘India’ block have written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding the scuffle in the Parliament complex. Deep pain has been expressed in the letter regarding this incident.
The letter said, “We express deep pain over the incident that took place in the Parliament complex. “Members of the ‘India’ Alliance were protesting peacefully and marching from Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Statue to Makar Dwar.”
“However, as soon as we tried to enter Parliament from Makar Gate, the protesting MPs were prevented from entering,” the letter said. We would also like to bring to your attention that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was assaulted by three MPs from the ruling party. “This is a clear violation of the privileges given to the Leader of the Opposition and the rights given to him in his official capacity as an MP.”
“His conduct was not only a blatant attack on the personal dignity of Rahul Gandhi but also contrary to the democratic spirit of our Parliament,” the letter said. We hope that you will take this matter very seriously and take appropriate action.”
At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inquired about the well being of BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput who were injured in this incident.
Apart from PM Modi, Union ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Pralhad Joshi reached the hospital and met BJP MP Pratap Sarangi.
TDP MP Byreddy Shabri and BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj have said that an FIR will be lodged against Rahul Gandhi in this matter.
MP Pratap Sarangi said, “I was standing on the stairs. Then Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP and he fell on me. Due to which I fell and got injured.”
On this entire matter, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi says that everything will be captured on camera. He said, “I was trying to enter the House. Meanwhile, BJP MPs pushed and threatened me. During this, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was also pushed. We have nothing to do with pushing and shoving. We are members of Parliament. Were going inside. BJP MPs cannot stop us from going to Parliament.
Rahul Gandhi said that it is his right to go to Parliament. He said, “No one can stop me. I wanted to go inside the Parliament. But, I was stopped. The BJP MPs were constantly trying to stop me. They were trying to stop me at the entrance. These “People are continuously attacking the Constitution. These people want to destroy the memory of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, but we will not let this happen.”
