Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said on Tuesday that the problem in interaction with Pakistan is not to find a shared view for decency and peace. He emphasized that if Pakistan takes important action against the infrastructure of terrorism present everywhere in the country, then the Indian government can interact with it.
Tharoor, who is leading the all -party parliamentary delegation in Brazil, also said that his team has successfully conveyed India’s message against terrorism to Latin American countries, including countries that had some misunderstandings in their minds.
Tharoor told PTI videos, “We keep saying the same to our negotiaters. If Pakistan is as innocent as it claims, then why does he give safe refuge to the desired terrorists? How can they live peacefully, why they can run training camps … and why can people make weapons and how people can make weapons and work.”
He said that in the conversation with Pakistan, the problem is not of language, but to find a shared view for decency and peace. He said, “You should tighten this infrastructure of terrorism which is visible everywhere in your country. Then, of course, we can interact.”
He said, “We can talk to him in Hindustani. We can talk to him in Punjabi. We can talk to him in English. There is no problem in finding a common base with Pakistan. The problem is to find a shared view for decency and peace. We want peace, want to develop. They do not want to leave us alone. They want to bother us. They want to bother us.”
He said, “They want to eliminate this whole of India by giving 1,000 wounds. They are not going to end so easily. It would be better to forget this idea.”
On another question whether India hopes that Brazil, who is hosting the 11th BRICS parliamentary platform, can issue a statement on terrorism against Indian citizens, Tharoor said, “I think, honestly, there is a separate agenda of BRICS. I am not saying that they do not want to express solidarity. I do not want to know me, I do not know what I do not know, I do not know. Whether in the draft or not they are already working “.
He said, “As far as other issues are concerned, you know that we are not focused on international forums. Our focus honestly is on bilateral relations with Pakistan and the complete failure of Pakistan in destroying the terrorist structure in our country.”
Asked whether the country is recognizing India’s attitude against terrorism, Tharoor said that his delegation has so far traveled to four countries – Guyana, Panama, Columbia and Brazil – and “The countries where we have gone, this thing has been completely clear.”
Referring to Colombia, he said, “And I would say that we have got very clear success in all four countries, if this is the word, then I do not like to describe success. It has to be decided to others. But we have sent our message very clearly, even those who can have some misunderstandings.”
Earlier, Tharoor had said that Colombia has withdrawn the statement expressing condolences to Pakistan for the loss of life and property in response to the Pahalgam attack, when his delegation explained the constant support for Islamabad to the border terrorism.
Tharoor said, “As a result of delivering your message, in my view, we are able to realize that these countries understand our situation better and express complete solidarity with our struggle against terrorism, which is the main objective of our journey.”
The delegation led by Tharoor will go to Washington DC from Brazil. On a question asked about the delegation’s expectations from the Washington DC Yatra, Tharoor said, “My expectations will be a challenging journey. We will have a variety of viewers.”
He said, “Given some information spread all around, we have found some interesting and possibly challenging questions, which we will be very happy to answer.”
Tharoor said in a post on X that the delegation spent a deep day of meetings in Brazil, which “gave us a lot to be pleased with the confirmation of solidarity and goodwill for India both the highest levels and legislature.” The delegation held an outstanding and highly productive meeting with Senator Nelsinho Trade, President of India-Brazil Friendship Front and Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee.
“I appreciate him for his deep understanding and strong support of India’s perspective on recent events. Such solidarity strengthens our democracy, Brazil and India,” Tharoor said.
The delegation also met India’s new Ambassador Dinesh Bhatia in Brazil. Tharoor said, “In the lunch of the ambassador, I was very happy to meet two prestigious educational couples, who have kept the flag of India in the Brazilian capital for more than half a century: Professor Vijayendra Kumar and his wife Devi, who have taught Hindi to the people of Brazil; and Professor Haridas and his wife Padmaja, who have been from Palakkad district and my wife have been from Palakkad district and my wife Have seen the house! “
He said, “Professor Kumar said that apart from diplomats, there are only five Indian families in Brasilia’s 4 million population, which I find impossible to believe!”
The delegation also met Ambassador Cellso Amorim, the chief advisor to the Special Advisor to the President of Brazil and discussed India’s zero tolerance status towards terrorism.
