Russia on Thursday (June 26, 2025) assured that it would deliver India to India by 2026-27 to deliver the remaining two squadrons of the S-400 air defense system. This air defense system gave a shock to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. The Russia-Ukraine war delayed delivery of the fourth and fifth squadron of the S-400 air defense system. Recently, during a meeting of SCO Defense Ministers in Qingdao, China, Rajnath Singh and Andree Belusave discussed this in a bilateral meeting.

In this regard, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh wrote on the social media platform X, “There was a meaningful discussion on further strengthening the India-Russia defense cooperation.” In 2018, there was a deal of Rs 40 thousand crore between India and Russia, under which India had to get 5 squadrons of S-400 by the end of 2023, but so far India has got only 3 squadrons. The Times of India quoted sources as saying that the fourth squadron would be achieved in next year and fifth squadron in 2027.
