New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three-day visit to the US. He is addressing the Indian community at an event titled ‘Modi and America’ organised at Long Island in New York.
Addressing the NRIs, Prime Minister Modi said that we have made policies to promote every sector. We worked on providing cheap data to the people. Every major mobile brand is Made in India today. India is the second largest mobile manufacturer in the world. He said that there was a time when we used to import mobiles and today we are exporting mobiles.
PM Modi said that India no longer follows others, India now leads, creates systems. India gave the concept of digital public infrastructure to the world. India’s UPI is attracting the whole world. You have a wallet in your pocket, but in India people have e-wallet, Digi Locker. India is not going to stop or pause now. Today India’s 5G market has become bigger than America and this has happened in just two years. Now India is working on ‘Made in India’ 6G. This was possible because we made policies to promote this sector. We worked on Made in India technology.
Referring to women empowerment, PM Modi said that the crores of houses built by the government have been registered in the name of women. More than half of the crores of bank accounts opened in India are in the name of women. 10 crore women of India are associated with the MSME scheme. We are also trying to connect agriculture with technology in India. Today drones are being used in farming. Drones may not be a new thing for you, but the new thing is that its responsibility lies with women. We are making thousands of women drone pilots.
He said that India’s role in carbon emissions is negligible. We have no role in destroying the world. We have chosen the path of green transition. He said that today people listen to India’s words seriously. When India speaks on the global platform, the world listens. Some time ago when I said that this is not the era of war, everyone listened. India’s priority is not to increase pressure in the world, but to increase influence. We do not want to dominate the world, we want to cooperate in the world.
