After the immediate ceasefire of India and Pakistan, the Congress on Saturday demanded an all -party meeting headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take political parties into confidence, while its leaders recalled the leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the 1971 war. The opposition party also demanded that the government called a special session of Parliament to discuss the incidents of the last 18 days.
Congress General Secretary (Communications in -charge) Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X, “In view of the unprecedented announcements made from Washington DC, now there is more need than ever before the Prime Minister should preside over an all -party meeting and take political parties in confidence.” He said that now there is more need to call a special session of Parliament in which the events of the last 18 days should be discussed, which includes the brutal Pahalgam terrorist attack to the further strategy and the collective resolution should be displayed.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Egyptian has announced that the Director General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan has agreed to stop all types of firing and military action on land, air and sea since 5 pm. This brief announcement came shortly after US President Donald Trump’s statement that he said that India and Pakistan have agreed to “complete and immediate” ceasefire after the US talks.
Meanwhile, Pawan Kheda, head of the Congress’s Media and Publicity Department, shared X pictures of Indira Gandhi with armed forces personnel at various times and said, “India remembers Indira.” Sharing a picture of Indira Gandhi with armed forces personnel, Congress said in a post, “Indira Gandhi … courage | Firm belief | Shakti.” The party’s Kerala unit said, “Remember the name – Indira Gandhi.” Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammad said, “Under the leadership of former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi, Pakistan had two pieces despite the direct threat of the United States. Today the country is missing a lot of their decisive leadership!” Pictures of Indira Gandhi were also shared on social media handles of various state units of Congress and her leadership was remembered.
