Iran will never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons: Israeli PM

Jerusalem, 18 April (IANS). Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that Israel will not allow Iran to get nuclear weapons. His statement came to light amid reports of a fresh talks on the new nuclear deal between Tehran and the US administration.

Netanyahu’s office said in a statement on Thursday, “The Prime Minister has clarified more than once: Israel will not allow Iran to gain nuclear weapons.”

The office said that Netanyahu has ‘conducted countless direct and secret campaigns against Iran’s nuclear program’ and ‘led the global campaign against Iran’s nuclear program’.

Iranian External Affairs Minister Saeed Abbas Araghchi met on the issue of Tehran’s nuclear program in Oman’s capital Muscat last Saturday at the issue of Tehran’s nuclear program. Both sides described this meeting as ‘creative’.

US President Donald Trump said in early March that a letter from Iranian leaders was received through the United Arab Emirates, proposing talks on Tehran’s nuclear program.

Iran later agreed to indirect talks.

Israel and Western governments have long been accusing Iran of acquiring nuclear weapons capacity. However, Tehran has been denying this charge.

Netanyahu’s statement came in Rome on Saturday before the second round of talks between the US and the Iranian delegations in Rome.

Trump’s efforts to compromise through mediation on Iran’s nuclear program seem to be contrary to the long -standing policy of dealing with Netanyahu’s military action.
