The security system of the country, our brave soldiers posted on the borders and their policies may be the right of the opposition, but when raising this question, it becomes a matter of concern. The comments made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the last few months have given rise to a similar concern. From his words, it seems as if they are questioning the valor and loyalty of the armies of the country for political gains.
Question on the intention of the army repeatedly
Rahul Gandhi has several times raised army operations, their strategies and government decisions from public forums. The fresh statement in this sequence came when he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of bowing under the pressure of America during the Pakistan dispute at a rally in Bhopal. Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Modi ‘Sarender’ was done by Prime Minister Modi after a phone call from former US President Donald Trump. Along with this, a satirical cartoon was also posted from the official social media account of the Congress in which Trump is asking the Prime Minister to ‘Sarender’. This is not the first time Rahul Gandhi has made statements on the sensitive incidents related to the army. After the Pulwama attack, when the Indian Air Force had an aircraft in Balakot, Pakistan, Rahul Gandhi still raised suspicion of the might of the forces by demanding a ‘video of the surgical strike’. Similarly, at the time of sacrifice of Indian soldiers in the Galwan Valley Struggle, the Congress leader had questioned the government and said that China has captured the Indian territory.
Pakistan’s defeat ignored
It is worth noting that whenever India has given a befitting reply to Pakistan on the terrorism front, Rahul Gandhi and his party have been seen to underestimate the might of the Indian Army. Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist camps were destroyed in the Balakot strike, which had a tremendous impact on Pakistan’s terrorist activities. But the Congress neither appreciated this success of the army nor discussed the loss of Pakistan. Even Pakistani media admitted that his terrorist network has suffered deeply due to India’s counter attacks, but Rahul Gandhi was busy criticizing the government by ignoring these achievements. This attitude raises the question whether the interest of the country is being compromised for political gains?
Learns from global events
If we look at other countries of the world, we will find that during the war or crisis, all political parties are united in support of the army. Russia-Ukraine War or Israel-Filistine conflict are examples where the opposition parties also appeared standing with the army and the government. This should also happen in India, but here the opposition parties, especially the Congress, often question the decisions of the army and the government and work in the unity of the country.
Patriotism does not mean doubt support
India’s army is one of the largest and most experienced forces in the world. Our soldiers protect the country by risking their lives on the border every day. In such a situation, raising questions on the might of the army, asking for ‘evidence’ on their action is not only incompatible but it also makes the enemies fresh. It is true that the opposition has the right to ask the government questions, but this question should not be going to bring the morale of the army. Such statements of Rahul Gandhi not only breaks the morale of the soldiers posted on the border, but also creates an atmosphere of mistrust towards the army among the general public. This situation can be dangerous for the security of the country.
Congress’s double attitude?
It is also worth noting that when the Congress leaders were in power, they themselves claimed major actions against terrorism, but while in opposition, they seem ‘false’ or ‘propaganda’. After the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the Manmohan Singh government had also taken many stringent steps, but then the BJP did not question the might of the army.
Country interest in electoral politics?
Criticism of the ruling party is natural in electoral politics, but the whole country speaks in one voice on the question of security. Be it Balakot Strike or Galwan conflict, the country expects support from the opposition on such occasions. But Rahul Gandhi’s rhetoric damages the unity of the country.
Complaint not with Election Commission
Rahul Gandhi had accused of ‘match fixing’ in the context of Maharashtra assembly elections, but according to reports he has not yet filed any formal complaint in the Election Commission regarding this allegation. This indicates that many times their allegations are only for making political air, which have no relation with real facts.
Prime Minister’s clear policy
The government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has adopted a clear and aggressive policy on the security front. Whether it is a surgical strike or an air strike, a strong message against terrorism. This stance of the government is not only a warning for enemies but also increases the trust of security among the countrymen.
Opposition also showed responsibility
Today India is on the path of becoming a global power. Countries like America, Russia, Israel respect India’s military potential. In such a situation, it is unfortunate to raise voices against the army from inside India. It is the responsibility of the opposition to support the might of the army instead of doing politics on national issues. Rahul Gandhi and Congress should understand that politics also has a dignity. Issues related to the country’s defense and safety are not for vote bank politics. No party can do good to the country by dropping the morale of the army. The opposition should criticize positively, ask the government questions but do not let the bravery and respect of the army come to light. The country will be strong only when its leaders are united on every front, especially when it comes to the soldiers who protect the boundaries.
