The Congress said on Thursday that it has been demanding a detailed debate on China for the last five years and it is expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will eventually agree to such a discussion in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.
The opposition party also said that it is important to work collectively to create a national security and economic challenges arising out of the world’s major manufacturing power and the world’s second largest economy.
Congress general secretary and communication in -charge Jairam Ramesh said, “Today is the fifth anniversary of Prime Minister Modi’s notorious clean chit to China, when he said that ‘four days after the sacrifice of our 20 brave soldiers for the country in Galwan on June 15, 2020, he said that’ neither someone has entered our border, nor has anyone entered any” Ended, under which the Indian patrol will require Chinese consent to reach its patrol points at Depsang, Demchok and Chumar.
Ramesh claimed that the “buffer zone” in the Galwan, Hot Spring and Pangong Tso is mainly located within the Indian claim line and seems to be permanently preventing our soldiers from reaching the points where they had untreated access before April 2020.
He further claimed that it is not close to the status quo sought by our armed forces and it is a huge regional setback for India.
He said that in the meantime, imports from China are accelerating – especially electronics, electric batteries and solar cells. Ramesh said that important areas such as telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and electronics are highly dependent on Chinese imports.
He said, “The trade deficit with China has reached a record 99.2 billion US dollars in 2024-25. Meanwhile, exports to China today are less than in 2013-14, while the rupee is quite weak, which should have made export more competitive in principle.”
Ramesh said, “This surrender in front of Chinese economic strength is the result of a similar infamous statement of the Foreign Minister when he said:” Look, they are a big economy. What am I going to do? As a small economy, are I going to fight with a big economy? “
The Congress leader said that now it has become completely clear that China played an important role in Pakistan’s military operations during Operation Sindoor.
Ramesh said, “This support is deeper than the J-10c fighter aircraft and the PL-15E-air-airing missile supply supply. This includes AI, multi-domain operations and stealthy areas. Pakistan is likely to get 40 J-35 stalth fighter aircraft from China in the near future.”
He said that the challenge of the single front that surrounds our northern and western borders seems to be a reality today. Ramesh said, “The Congress party has been demanding a detailed debate on China for the last five years. It has not happened. We hope that the Prime Minister will eventually agree to such a discussion in the upcoming session of Parliament.”
He said that it is important to work collectively to create a national consensus on these important national security and economic challenges arising out of China’s emergence as the world’s major manufacturing power and the second largest economy in the world – which can overtake the United States in a decade.
