After the first phase of voting in Kashmir, BJP is definitely claiming victory, but if we look at the history of assembly elections in the valley, BJP’s vote share has been very slow here. Let us tell you that the first phase of voting has been completed in Jammu and Kashmir, on September 18, a total of 58.85% voting took place on 24 seats in the first phase.
Now the second phase of voting will be held on 25 September and the last third phase on 1 October. Let us tell you that there are a total of 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which 47 assembly seats are in Kashmir and 43 assembly seats are in Jammu. Out of these, 9 seats are reserved for ST and 7 seats for SC. Counting of votes will take place here on 8 October.
Vote share increased by only 2% in 31 years
If we look at the figures, in 1983, BJP’s vote share in Kashmir was 0.06%. Whereas this year it was 7.99% in Jammu. After this, in 2002, BJP’s vote share in Kashmir was 1.62%. Whereas, in the same period, it was 12.31% in Jammu. After this, in 2014, the party’s vote share was 2.24% in the valley and 40.15% in Jammu.
In 1996, there were candidates in only 13 assembly seats
According to the information, out of the total 47 assembly seats in Kashmir, BJP is contesting on only 19 seats this time. Similarly, the party has fielded its candidates on all 43 assembly seats in Jammu. Earlier in 1996, BJP had fielded its candidates on only 13 assembly seats in Kashmir.
