Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Chaudhary survived today as a victim of a major accident. Baba Budha failed the brakes of his car while returning to Amarnath and survived the car falling into the ditch. Talking to reporters in Poonch, he said that this is the third time his car brakes have failed.
He has asked Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha whether he is waiting for any untoward? Why are they not being given a new car, while he falls in the Z Plus security category. He has told the DGP that if you and your officials have new vehicles, then why are new vehicles not being given to ministers?
Who is Surinder Kumar Chaudhary?
Please tell that Surinder Kumar Chaudhary took over as Deputy Chief Minister in the National Conference (NC) government led by Omar Abdullah on 16 October 2024. He is an MLA from Nowshera assembly seat in Jammu division and in the assembly elections 2025, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Ravinder Raina was defeated by 7819 votes. At the same time, by making Surinder Chaudhary the Deputy Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and his party National Conference have tried to convey the message of Hindu-Muslim unity. He is a prominent leader in the Jammu region and in April 2025, he came into controversy by calling the murder of 28 people a ‘minor act’, for which he was criticized.

Please tell that Surinder Chaudhary was born in Noniyal village of Rajouri district of Jammu. His father’s name was Dayal Chand, who was a captain in the Indian Army. Surinder Chaudhary started his political life with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He was considered close to Mehbooba Mufti. He won the first assembly election from Nowshera in 2008. In 2014, Surinder Chaudhary contested from Nowshera on a PDP ticket, but lost to Ravinder Raina.
In 2022, due to differences, he left the PDP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In 2023, he left the BJP and attended the National Conference. In 2024, he contested on the National Conference ticket and defeated Ravinder Raina to become an MLA. Surinder Chaudhary is from the Jat community and has been made Deputy Chief Minister as the only Hindu MLA of the NC-Congress alliance.
