New Delhi, September 2 (IANS). The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released another list of its candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The BJP has announced the names of six candidates in its fourth list. The name of Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina is also included in this list. The party has made Ravinder Raina its candidate from Nowshera seat.
Apart from this, BJP has given tickets to Engr. Aijaz Hussain from Lal Chowk, Arif Raja from Idgah and Dr. Ali Mohammad Mir from Khansahib. At the same time, Zahid Hussain from Charar-e-Sharif and Vibodh Gupta from Rajouri (ST) have been fielded in the election.
Earlier, BJP had announced the names of 15 candidates in the first list for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Names of 10 candidates were announced in the second list and 29 candidates in the third list.
The Congress party also announced the names of six candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The party has nominated Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Tariq Hameed Karra from Central Shalteng, Mumtaz Khan from Reasi, Bhupendra Jamwal from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Iftikar Ahmed from Rajouri (ST), Shabbir Ahmed Khan from Thannamandi and Mohammad Shahnawaz Choudhary from Surankot (ST).
Let us tell you that elections for the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will be held in three phases. Voting for the first phase will be held on September 18, in the second phase on September 25 and in the third phase on October 1. Whereas, the counting of votes will take place on October 8.
This will be the first assembly election in the valley since 2014, as Article 370 was repealed in 2019. Since then, assembly elections have not been held in Jammu and Kashmir.
