Ganderbal (Jammu and Kashmir), Sep 7 (IANS) In view of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah visited his constituency Ganderbal.
Omar Abdullah addressed several public meetings organised in Peerpora, Kachan, Wakura, Batwina, Safapora and Beehama Ganderbal of Ganderbal assembly constituency. Addressing the people during this time, he said, “The Delhi government can never solve your issues. Only the local government will solve your issues. Still, if you have any doubts, then on Friday itself the Home Minister of the country has made the truth clear on this issue.”
Let us tell you that Ganderbal assembly seat has been the ancestral assembly seat of Omar Abdullah. Omar Abdullah’s grandfather Sheikh Abdullah and then his father Farooq Abdullah have been MLAs from this seat. It is known that earlier in an election rally on Friday, Omar Abdullah had attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party and said that Muslims are suppressed under the rule of BJP.
Omar Abdullah had said that the matter of daily bulldozers being run on the houses and shops of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh has reached the Supreme Court, where it has been declared illegal. In UP, our mosques and madrassas are being locked. Under the BJP rule in Assam, every time an attempt is made to humiliate Muslims. When Muslims raise their voice against this, when a huge crowd of Muslims comes, they are called Jihadis.
He had said that the BJP government wants to suppress Muslims. He said, “When the BJP is in power in Karnataka, our mothers and sisters are told to first remove their hijab and then go to school, college and university. We have to save Jammu and Kashmir from such forces who want to create similar conditions here too, who want to suppress our voice.”
Attacking the independent candidates, he had said that their only motive is to win 10-15 seats and put them in the BJP’s kitty. All the arrangements for these independent candidates to contest the elections are being done by the BJP. We have to save ourselves from these forces.
