Ranchi, Sep 10 (IANS) Jharkhand High Court has given relief to 18 BJP leaders including state BJP president Babulal Marandi in the case filed by the police regarding the ruckus during the ‘Yuva Aakrosh Rally’ of BJYM in Ranchi.
The court has banned any kind of coercive action by the police against them. The court has also directed the state government to file a reply in this matter within three weeks.
On 23 August, BJP and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha had organized a ‘Yuva Aakrosh Rally’ at Morhabadi Ground in Ranchi on issues like unemployment in Jharkhand, rigging in government job examinations, delay in results, regularization of contract workers. There was a lot of uproar during this.
After the rally, there was a fierce clash between the protesters who were trying to cross the police barricades and move towards the CM’s residence. Many people from both sides were injured. In this case, Ranchi Police had registered an FIR against 51 named BJP leaders and 12 thousand unknown people. All of them have been accused of attacking the police under a conspiracy, violating prohibitory orders and marching towards the CM’s residence without permission.
18 BJP leaders including state BJP president Babulal Marandi have filed a petition in the High Court to quash the FIR registered against them, which was heard on Tuesday.
Apart from Marandi, other leaders against whom the court has imposed a stay on police action include Leader of Opposition in Jharkhand Assembly Amar Kumar Bauri, Dhanbad MP Dhullu Mahato, Panki MLA Kushwaha Shashi Bhushan Prasad Mehta, BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdev, BJYM state president Shashank Raj, Nirsa MLA Aparna Sen Gupta, Koderma MLA Nira Yadav, BJP leader Satyendra Nath Tiwari, Mangal Murti Tiwari, Amit Kumar, Amardeep Yadav, Aarti Kujur, Varun Kumar, Indu Shekhar Mishra, MPs Pradeep Verma and Aditya Prasad.
