The Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf Amendment Bill on Wednesday accepted the draft report and the revised revised bill. On 30 January, the committee will submit a report to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. However, opposition leaders have also expressed their disagreement over the report.
Talking to ANI, JPC President Jagdambika Pal said, “Today, we have adopted the report and the revised revised bill. First, we have included a section for the first time that it has been said that the benefits of the Waqf are the benefits of the margins, the poor, the poor , Women and orphans should be found. Tomorrow, we will submit this report to the speaker. “
He said, “We had 44 sections before us, out of which amendments were proposed by members in 14 sections. We voted by a majority and then these amendments were accepted.”
BJP MP Dr. Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal targeted the opposition and said that it is in his DNA to oppose the government. He said, “The report on the Waqf Amendment Bill has been approved by 14 to 11 votes. Various parties have presented their disagreement notes. The report will be submitted to the speaker tomorrow. It is the opposition’s job to oppose the work done by the government. His DNA is in. “
BJP MP Tejashwi Surya emphasized that the government’s intention is to bring modernity, transparency and accountability in the management of Waqf properties and at the same time to stop the misuse of law by vested interests, which is the land at the cost of social and communal harmony in the country. But trying to encroach.
Surya said, “Both these objectives have been fulfilled by the amendments passed and the report accepted by the JPC. Although the discussions were hot, the final report is a good document that is a good document that has brought extremely necessary accountability and transparency in the functioning of the Waqf Board. Empower the Muslim community. “
However, the action of JPC was criticized by opposition leaders. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that when this bill is discussed in Parliament during the budget session, he will oppose it.
He said, “Last night we were given a draft report of 655 pages and for anyone reading such a long report in such a short time and giving our opinion is humanly impossible. Nevertheless, we tried and presented our disagreement report. “
Owaisi further said, “This is not in favor of Waqf. I am saying from the beginning that the BJP has brought this bill against Muslims according to its ideology and its purpose is to harm the Waqf Board and capture their mosques. When this bill is brought to Parliament, we will oppose it there too. If Hindus, Sikhs and Christians can keep members of their religion in their respective boards, how can the Muslim Waqf Board be non-Muslim members? “
Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee also said that he has presented his disagreement letter on the report.
He said, “I have expressed my disagreement. We got a 656 -page draft at around 7:55 pm yesterday evening. In this report, the comments and recommendations of the committee are completely wrong. The statements of the victims are not considered. -What we said during the discount, the question arises that the Chairman of the stakeholders has not liked, according to me, the proceedings of JPC have become a joke. All other approaches have been completely ignored. “
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant said that he has issued disagreement notes as the amendments made are against the constitution.
Sawant said, “Till tomorrow people used to come through elections in Waqf, but now you are removing elections. People will be nominated there and the central government will do this work. If the government can change the law related to the Election Commission, then it What to do here? Today there is a provision to bring non-Muslims into Waqf, so tomorrow they can do the same in our temples (bringing non-Hindus) because the issue of equality will come in the Constitution. “
DMK MP A Raja claimed that the draft report was adopted in a hurry. He said, “Last night we received the draft report at 9.50 pm, then how can the Speaker expect that we will present disagreement notes throughout the night.”
Congress MP Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain said, “There were many objections and suggestions that have not been included in this report. The government has made reports according to him. Unconstitutional amendments have been brought and the rights of minorities have been damaged. Amendments have been brought to target minorities, especially the Muslim community. “
