Kamra should apologize for insulting Eknath Shinde: Fadnavis

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that ‘Stand-up comedian’ has insulted Shinde with his comment and he should apologize for this.

Fadnavis told reporters in the State Legislature campus that this act of Kamra is condemnable.

The Mumbai Police on Monday filed an FIR against ‘Stand-up comedian’ Kunal Kamra for allegedly making derogatory remarks for Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during an event. The police have also registered a case against about 40 Shiv Sena workers for allegedly vandalizing the ‘Habitat Studio’ located in Khar area of Mumbai.

Shiv Sena activists allegedly vandalized the ‘Habitat Comedy Club’ in Khar area in Mumbai on Sunday, where Kamra’s program was shot. In this program, he sarcasted Shinde through the word “traitor”.

Kamra sang a revised version of a song from the film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ in her show, referring to Shinde being rebel in 2022 against the then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Fadnavis said, “The results of the 2024 assembly elections have shown who is a traitor and who is the Khudar. People have approved Shinde’s (Shiv Sena founder) Bal Thackeray’s legacy on being a true successor. ”

He said that people have defeated those who betrayed Bal Thackeray’s ideology.

The Chief Minister said, “People have freedom to satire and ‘comedy’ but intentionally (of any person) are not allowed to insult. Kamra showed the red book of the Constitution which Rahul Gandhi keeps. Both have not read the constitution. He cannot justify his act by showing the book. ”

Fadnavis said, “The Constitution says that when you attack the freedom of others, your own freedom is restricted.”

He said that Kamra cannot justify his act by showing a copy of Rahul Gandhi’s Constitution (Lal Kitab) and cannot avoid action.
