Kannauj, Sep 11 (IANS) On Tuesday, the POCSO court, while giving its verdict on the police’s plea in the Kannauj minor rape case, allowed the remand of accused Neelu Yadav, brother of prime accused Nawab Singh Yadav, and the victim’s aunt.
On Wednesday, Kannauj police took both the accused out of the district jail and took them with them. Before this, there was a lot of commotion in Kannauj district jail from Wednesday morning. Security was increased a lot around the jail. This entire action was taken by the police of Gursahaiganj and Sadar Kotwali. It is being told that the police will take both the accused on remand and interrogate them by making them sit face to face.
On August 12, Samajwadi Party leader Nawab Singh Yadav was accused of raping a minor. The police went to the spot and arrested the accused Nawab Singh Yadav. A few days later, the police also arrested the victim’s aunt on charges of taking her to Nawab Singh.
During interrogation, the accused aunt told the police that Nawab Singh Yadav’s brother Neelu Yadav had lured her with money and asked her not to get the victim’s medical checkup done. Neelu Yadav had also pressurised the girl to retract her statement. The police had registered a case against Neelu Singh and started searching for him.
When Neelu Singh was not found, the police had also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on him. However, on September 3, he surrendered in the court. After which the police applied for his remand in the court for interrogation, which was approved by the court on Tuesday.
