Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar will meet the Congress high command in New Delhi on Tuesday and discuss various developments, including a stampede in Bengaluru on 4 June, killing 11 people.
After this incident, the Congress government of the state is being severely criticized and the opposition BJP and JD (S) have directly held both the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister responsible and demanded their resignation.
The Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement, “Siddaramaiah will meet the party leadership in Delhi and make him aware of the latest developments.”
According to his office, Shivkumar, who returned from Delhi after visiting Delhi after visiting the Municipal Corporation administration and solid waste management along with officials of Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), is going back to Delhi.
Shivkumar is also the state Congress president.
The stampede took place in front of the Chinnaswamy Stadium on the evening of June 4, where a large number of people gathered to join the RCB team’s IPL victory. In the incident, 11 people died and 56 people were injured.
Siddaramaiah on Sunday denied reports that the Congress high command had sought information from them regarding the stampede incident.
According to sources, the four names suggested to the Governor for nomination in the Legislative Council are also likely to be discussed, but were allegedly stopped after the party high command’s instructions.
