New Delhi, September 16 (IANS). Sandeep Dixit, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and senior Congress leader, had an exclusive interview with news agency IANS on Monday. He openly expressed his views on many issues including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation and ‘One Nation One Election’.
Question: Arvind Kejriwal is holding a meeting today regarding the next CM of Delhi, what will you say on this?
Answer: It does not make any sense. In most political parties, when power changes in this manner, leader changes, Chief Minister changes, then there is a curiosity because there are other leaders in many political parties. They have done something in political life, have contributed to social service. They are known for some issue or regional politics or topic. There is only Kejriwal in Aam Aadmi Party, all others are his domestic servants. No one has any existence. According to me, they will take the decision on the basis of who will come who is trusted by them, who will not let the file go out, who will suppress the evidence of corruption against them, who will work on their instructions, who will sign the contract which has to be signed. In a way, he will be there as their stooge. Two-three people must have decided. They will do all the formalities for show. All this is drama, it has no meaning. It is just a matter of wasting time.
Question: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he wants elections to be held in November? What would you like to say about this?
Answer: Resignation of the Chief Minister or Cabinet Minister does not lead to early elections because after that the Governor has the opportunity to explore the possibilities of a new government. If he explores the possibilities, he can impose President’s rule without dissolving the Assembly. Anyway, the Assembly is to be dissolved in January-February. If Kejriwal wants early elections, he should call a cabinet. It should be decided in the cabinet that we will send a proposal to the Governor in this regard and appeal for early elections. He has been an Income Tax officer and has read the Constitution. If Kejriwal wants early elections, he should take this step instead of doing drama. The Governor of Delhi has extraordinary powers. If Kejriwal wants early elections, he should adopt this process.
Question: The Central Government is moving ahead with ‘One Nation One Election’, what is your stand on this?
Answer: They could not do it together in Maharashtra and Haryana and they were only busy doing politics in it. Their condition is very bad in Maharashtra, BJP may not get even 25-50 seats in Maharashtra. They have started a scheme to give pension to women there. They think that it may increase the number of seats. That is why they did not conduct elections together there. When it suits their politics, it is not One Nation One Election and when it does not suit someone else’s politics, it is One Nation One Election. They do not follow any principle. They see what benefit they can get? They take decisions on that.
Question: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has said that former PMs Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi were against reservation, Rahul Gandhi talks about reservation, what do you have to say on this?
Answer: He is the Vice President, he holds a constitutional post, so we should not say much, but he is one Vice President whom I never take seriously. I respect him as a Vice President, but personally I do not have any seriousness towards him.
