During a address in Chhattisgarh, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge faced criticism of President Draupadi Murmu and former President Ram Nath Kovind wrongly. A video of the speech given at the Science Ground in Raipur is going viral on social media, in which Kharge can be heard as ‘Murma ji’ to the President. However, he immediately corrected his mistake and called ‘Murmu’. A few seconds later he made a mistake again and called ‘Kovind’ ‘Kovid’.
Kharge was giving a speech on which issue?
Mallikarjun Kharge made this mistake while speaking on the issue of large -scale trees in the forests of Chhattisgarh. He accused the BJP and its ‘industrialist friends’ of grabbing land. Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Our water, forest and land should be protected and that’s why we need to unite. They (BJP) say that we (Draupadi) made Murmu the President, (Ram Nath) made Kovind the President, but what, people like Adani and Ambani are grabbing it?” The BJP called it anti -tribal, the BJP targeted the Congress chief and criticized his lapse, calling it ‘anti -women, anti -Dalit and anti -tribal’.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, “The Congress President has used objectionable words against Draupadi Murmu. The entire tribal community is condemning it. He also used words like ‘Kovid’ for former President Ram Nath Kovind.” Shahzad Poonawala said that this statement of the Congress chief reflects the deep hatred of the Congress towards the SC and ST community. He said, “The Congress President reflects President Draupadi Murmu as Murma ji, Kovind ji as Kovid ji and then calling him land grabbing, reflects the deep hatred of Congress towards SC and ST community.” Poonawala further said, “Congress has shown such a tradition towards constitutional positions. He did not spare anyone, nor Chief Justice of India, Prime Minister and President.”
Recall the statement of ‘President’ …
This is not the first time the Congress is in trouble for making alleged derogatory remarks about the President. Speaking to reporters in the year 2022, senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary used the word ‘President’ for President Draupadi Murmu. This led to a big political controversy, after which the ruling BJP raised the issue in Parliament. Amid the uproar, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said that it was only his tongue slipped, he has great respect for the President. He said, “This mistake happened because my mother tongue is Bengali and I do not know Hindi well.”
