Uttar Pradesh News Desk!! In 2024, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi contested from Wayanad in Kerala and Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat in UP. During this, the Congress party has given information about how much money was spent in his election. Congress told the Election Commission that he was given Rs 70 lakh each to contest from both the seats. Congress said that Vikramaditya Singh was the only candidate who was given Rs 87 lakh from the party fund. He contested from Mandi seat in Himachal, but lost to BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut. Kishori Lal Sharma was among the Congress candidates who were given Rs 70 lakh in this Lok Sabha election. Kishori Sharma defeated BJP’s Smriti Irani from Amethi by a huge margin.

Which Congress leader got how much money

KC Venugopal (Alappuzha in Kerala) – Rs 70 lakh Manickam Tagore (Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu) – Rs 70 lakh Radhakrishna (Gulbarga, Karnataka) – Rs 70 lakh Vijay Inder Singla (Anandpur Sahib in Punjab) – Rs 70 lakh Anand Sharma – Rs 46 lakh Digvijay Singh – Rs 50 lakh

Rahul Gandhi had won from Rae Bareli as well as Wayanad, but he had given up the Wayanad seat. He is now the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The party had won 99 seats in the parliamentary election and Rahul Gandhi had won two seats. There is a limit on campaign expenditure by a candidate, but there is no such limit for political parties. In January 2022, based on the recommendation of the Election Commission, the government had increased the election expenditure limit for candidates in Lok Sabha elections from Rs 70 lakh to Rs 95 lakh and for assembly elections from Rs 28 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. The revised expenditure limit for Lok Sabha elections is now Rs 90 lakh for larger states and Rs 75 lakh for smaller states. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections were held in seven phases and the results were declared on June 4.
