Congress told the Election Commission that he was given Rs 70 lakh each to contest from both the seats. Congress said that Vikramaditya Singh was the only candidate who was given Rs 87 lakh from the party fund. He contested from Mandi seat in Himachal, but lost to BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut. Kishori Lal Sharma was among the Congress candidates who were given Rs 70 lakh in this Lok Sabha election. Kishori Sharma defeated BJP’s Smriti Irani from Amethi by a huge margin.

The revised expenditure limit for Lok Sabha elections is now Rs 90 lakh for larger states and Rs 75 lakh for smaller states.
