Delhi News Desk !!! Sonu Punjaban is once again in the headlines. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday rejected the plea to suspend the sentence of Sonu Punjaban alias Geeta Arora. Sonu Punjaban was notorious for running a prostitution racket in Delhi-NCR. In fact, in 2020, the trial court sentenced Sonu Punjaban to 24 years of imprisonment for pushing a minor girl into prostitution. Sonu Punjaban had appealed against this sentence in the High Court, which is still pending. Sonu Punjaban wanted her sentence to be suspended till the hearing of her appeal, so she approached the High Court. Sandeep Bedwal, who is serving a 20-year sentence in the case, had also applied for suspension of sentence, which was rejected by the court.
Sonu Punjaban’s real name is Geeta Arora. Sonu Punjaban, who once ran the biggest sex trafficking racket in Delhi NCR, was known as Lady Don. On 22 July 2020, a trial court found Sonu Punjaban guilty under the POCSO Act for pushing a minor girl into prostitution and sentenced her to 24 years in prison. The court said in its verdict that Sonu Punjaban has no right to live in a civilized society. The court also said that Sonu Punjaban has crossed all limits of being called a woman. There are many cases registered against Sonu Punjaban, but this was the first case in which she was found guilty and sentenced.
The story of Sonu Punjaban’s entry into the business of prostitution is completely different. Actually, in the year 2003, a gangster named Vijay Singh came into Geeta Arora’s life. By marrying him, Geeta Arora entered the world of crime. UP STF killed Vijay Singh in 2003 itself. After this, another criminal Deepak entered Sonu’s life. What started with a conversation turned into a relationship. A few years later, Deepak was killed by the police in Assam. After Deepak, Geeta Arora started an affair with Hemant Sonu. Hemant was Deepak’s brother. Both got married and started living together.

In April 2006, Hemant was shot dead by the police on the Delhi-Gurugram border in a double murder case. After Hemant’s death, Geeta Arora changed her name to her husband’s surname. Geeta Arora became Sonu Punjaban. Sonu Punjaban started the prostitution business in full swing. Sonu Punjaban was arrested for the first time in 2007 in a prostitution case. However, she got bail after some time. Sonu Punjaban was arrested again in 2008. Sonu Punjaban’s troubles increased when she was arrested in 2011.
In which case punishment
The case in which Sonu Punjaban was sentenced was related to a minor girl. Actually, a person named Sandeep Bedwal kidnapped a minor girl and sold her to Sonu Punjaban. After buying her, Sonu kept her hostage for several days and later pushed her into prostitution. The minor girl was given intoxicants so that she could not resist. After keeping her for three-four months, Sonu sold the minor girl to his friend Lala of Lucknow. Sonu Punjaban was arrested and a case was filed in the case.
On July 20, 2022, while sentencing Sonu Punjaban, the court said that she not only bought the victim for prostitution, but also crossed the limits of cruelty with her. The court said that the dignity of a woman is a very big thing for her. How can a woman insult the dignity of another minor woman like this? Due to Sonu Punjaban’s shameful act, the court cannot give her any kind of concession. Such a woman has no right to be called a woman.
