These people say that the rights of citizens to live normal lives during the Emergency were abolished. The freedom of expression was abolished. The police could have arrested whom he could and put them in jail. After the arrest, the family was not even informed. Various types of torture were given in jail. Even the police station was made a torture room. People were being sterilized and sterilized.
Former Minister Girish Narayan Pandey, a resident of Lalganj, was among the major witnesses in terms of ending membership of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. There was a lot of pressure on them not to testify. His son Anoop Pandey says that his father used to say that the district and state officials of the Congress used to give all kinds of temptations. Money, tickets, membership of Rajya Sabha were given greed. But, they did not agree. He testified against Indira in the High Court and the election was canceled. The testimony said that government money was misused in the election. Indira’s secretary and government employee Yashpal Kapoor used to watch the entire election schedule. The cross -examination of the High Court went on for one and a half hours. After this, emergency was imposed in the country.
Who was Girish Pandey?
On whose testimony, Indira Gandhi had lost power, there was an emergency in the country. Girish Narayan Pandey remained in jail for 11 months. Former UP minister Girish Narayan Pandey was a tehsil worker of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in those days. His son Anoop Pandey says that on 3 July 1975 his father was sleeping in his house in Lalganj. The constable came home and said that SDM Saheb is calling. At first he refused and said that they would come in the morning. He requested that he go with him, he would leave it back. When he came down the stairs, he saw that a dozen policemen were standing.
Girish Narayan Pandey reached the police station on foot instead of sitting in the car. SDM was sitting there. The SDM told him that you got relief when you met. DM and SP had said that he (Girish Narayan Pandey) is a dangerous man. Stayed in the police station at night. In the morning, he went to Rae Bareli by private bus. He was sent to jail at three in the evening. His son Anoop said that he was not even given tea in jail. People fasted for twenty four hours, then people got breakfast and tea. For five days, the family did not know where he was. A fake FIR was also registered against him. It was told that he was meeting at his door.
These included ex -servicemen. He had taken up arms to incite the government. Elections were held after the Emergency ended. Indira Gandhi again contested from Rae Bareli. Indira Gandhi was rejected by the people of Rae Bareli in this election. Girish Narayan Pandey contested from Sareni assembly seat in Rae Bareli district after two -time MLA elected MLA and became MLA twice. He became a cabinet minister in Kalyan Singh’s government. He was always associated with the ideology of Jana Sangh and BJP. Many occasions came, but they did not take advantage of it. He died on March 28 this year. His wife died a day earlier.
