Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the government’s dear sister scheme to provide financial assistance to women will continue and there is no question of ending it.
Under the Maharashtra government’s Ladki Bahin scheme, women are given Rs 1,500 every month. It is believed that the Ladki Bahin Yojana played an important role in the victory of the ruling Mahayuti in the state assembly elections last year.
Mahayuti consists of BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP of Ajit Pawar. During a conversation with reporters on Tuesday night, Pawar said, Budget allotment has been done for the implementation of the scheme and there is no question of abolishing it.
Earlier, the state’s Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare said on Tuesday that no change has been made in the assistance to be given under the scheme, but under other schemes, Rs 500 is being given to 7.74 lakh women already receiving Rs 1,000.
She was responding to the media reports that said that the financial assistance under the Ladki Bahin Scheme has been reduced to those 7,74,148 women who were already taking advantage of any other government scheme.
