The veteran leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has been commanding the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for the last three decades, has once again filed nomination for the post of party president. This is considered to be a formality and they are almost certain to be elected unopposed. 78 -year -old Lalu Yadav is struggling with many age related diseases. The party office arrived with his wife Rabri Devi and successor and younger son Tejashwi Yadav. Significantly, Rabri Devi has also been the Chief Minister of Bihar.

A large number of workers gathered outside the party office to get a glimpse of Lalu Yadav, known for the image of his grassroots leader. Speaking to the media on the occasion, Tejashwi Yadav said that there is a wave of happiness among the party workers that after successfully completing the last term, now the nomination for the post of president has been filed again for the new term. He hoped that the party would win under his leadership in the upcoming elections.

Earlier, RJD’s State Council had a meeting last week, in which Lalu Yadav had asked party workers to start preparations for the next election to make Tejashwi Yadav the Chief Minister. According to party spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan, the formal announcement of Lalu Yadav’s re -party president will be made soon.

Significantly, RJD was formed in 1997 after separating from the Janata Dal and since then Lalu Yadav has been handling the reins of the party. He has also held many important positions in the central government. It is an almost undisputed fact that after Lalu Yadav, the party’s command will be handed over to his younger son Tejashwi Yadav. Tejashwi has also been the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, while elder son Tej Pratap Yadav has been expelled from the party at present.
