Left parties will contest on 6 seats in Delhi Assembly elections: Vrinda Karat

Senior CPI(M) leader Vrinda Karat said the Left parties have decided to contest six seats in the Delhi Assembly elections and support the “strongest candidates” contesting against the BJP in other constituencies.

He said the CPI(M) will contest on two of the six seats and will make every possible effort to prevent the BJP from coming to power in the national capital.

He said, “The candidates of all the parties for the Delhi elections have already been decided. The Left parties have decided to contest on six seats. The CPI(M) will contest on two seats. The party has announced strong candidates contesting against the BJP on the remaining seats. Have also decided to extend our support to the candidates.”

Karat was in Ranchi on Thursday to attend the eighth Jharkhand state convention of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Voting for 70 assembly seats of Delhi will be held on February 5 and counting of votes will take place on February 8.

He said, “It depends on the people of Delhi who they elect. I am sure they will focus on the task of defeating the BJP, which has left no stone unturned in destroying people’s rights in the last five years.” “
