New Delhi, October 13 (IANS). The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi has accused Lieutenant Governor V.K. Questions have been raised on Saxena.
AAP alleges that no action is being taken against a health officer accused of sexually harassing a female doctor in a Delhi government hospital.
AAP MLA and Deputy Speaker of Delhi Assembly Rakhi Birla said that a female doctor was being sexually abused in a government hospital in Delhi for the last one year. The female doctor was in constant touch with the authorities, repeatedly appealing to the Health Secretary, but no cognizance was being taken of any complaint. Neither was FIR registered in the matter. The Internal Committee has also admitted that he was misbehaved, but no action of any kind was taken.
The AAP leader said, “Today we had come to meet the LG with a women’s delegation. We were only five women and some of our councilors had come here. But three times more police force than us was deployed here and we had to stand outside for one and a half hours. We did not meet any official from the LG office, which shows that they are irresponsible regarding women’s safety and “women’s respect” is just a word for them.
He said that such incidents do not require time. There is a need to take action for such incidents because the responsibility of security of half the population of Delhi directly and indirectly falls under the LG. Also, the responsibility of taking action against the officers in this incident rests with LG Vinay Saxena.
AAP spokesperson Reena Gupta said that for the last one year, a Medical Superintendent of Delhi has been harassing a lady doctor of Delhi. An internal committee has sat in the matter. The committee has found the Medical Superintendent guilty. Justice says that the Medical Superintendent should be immediately suspended, but the LG has promoted the Medical Superintendent and given him additional charge of two more hospitals.
He said, “Today the Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly and the AAP MLA had come to meet the LG to present the side of the lady doctor. We do not want the same incident to happen in Delhi as happened in Calcutta. But the LG did not take any cognizance. He did not meet us nor did we find any official from the LG office. A stono took our application and we were sent back.”
