The Delhi government has ordered liquor shops and other establishments serving liquor in the city to remain closed from February 3 to 5, the day of voting and February 8, the day of declaration of results.
In a recent notification issued by the Delhi Excise Commissioner, the day of polling and counting of votes for the 70-member Delhi Assembly has been declared as ‘dry day’ under the Excise Rules-2010 for various excise licenses.
The notification said, “It is ordered that from 6 pm on February 3 to 6 pm on February 5 (during the 48 hours ending with the time fixed for closing of poll) and on the day of counting of votes, February 8, It will be a dry day.
The notification said that during dry days, no liquor shops, hotels, restaurants, clubs and establishments selling or serving liquor will be allowed to sell or serve liquor to anyone.
It said that non-owned clubs, star hotels, restaurants and hotels run by anyone, even if they have been issued licenses of various categories for keeping and supplying liquor, are also not allowed to serve liquor. Should go.
