In the Lok Sabha on Thursday, where a member of the opposition Shiv Sena (Ubatha) praised Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for the construction of roads and highways across the country, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also commented on appreciating the Road Transport Minister.
During the Question Hour in the House, Sanjay Jadhav, a member of Shiv Sena (Ubatha) from Parbhani in Maharashtra, praised Gadkari, saying, “He is the son of Maharashtra who has done a lot of work on roads across the country.”
Gadkari, while answering the complementary question of Jadhav, told the House that a highway is being built from Indore to Hyderabad which will come out of Nanded in Maharashtra.
He said that a new “green alignment” is being ready at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore on the route of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar via Pune to Ahmednagar in Maharashtra.
He said that this is an innovative model and not a single rupee has been charged.
Gadkari said that the path from Pune to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is fixed in six to seven hours, but after the construction of this route will be completed in two hours.
During the reply of the Union Minister, the Lok Sabha Speaker took a pinch and said, “Is there any way left?”
In response to the complementary question of Abdul Rashid Sheikh, a member from Baramulla parliamentary seat in Jammu and Kashmir, Gadkari said that projects worth two lakh crore rupees are being done in the northern state and 105 tunnels are being built.
Gadkari said that the largest Zojila tunnel in Asia has also been constructed there.
