Lucknow, 18 February (IANS). The budget session of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly started from Tuesday. With the start of the session, the opposition created a ruckus. Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders reached the assembly with bone urn and protested against the government. The opposition raised the demand for paying tribute to the devotees killed in Mahakumbh and accused the government of ignoring.
Congress MLA Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ made serious allegations against the government. He said that till now, more than 50% of the budget presented in the state has not been spent. There are many departments whose budget was not used properly. Accusing the government of confusing the public, he said that not only has development by presenting big figures, but it should be benefited to the public.
Aradhana Mishra said that during the budget session, the problems of farmers, unemployment, inflation and law and order of the state should be discussed. However, the government avoids discussion every time.
He alleged that the government had ended the budget session quickly despite the demand of the opposition last time. This time too, the session from 18 February to 5 March has been fixed, but the government’s track record has been very poor. He demanded that the session be run completely, it should be discussed and the correct suggestions should be accepted.
Aradhana Mishra agreed to the demand of SP on the chaos and the slain devotees in Mahakumbh. He said that if a person dies due to the negligence of the administration, then the government should express condolences. It is the responsibility of the government to pay tribute to the dead and investigate his death.
During this time, he also reacted by the Supreme Court to issue contempt notices to the UP administration in the matter of demolishing the part of the mosque in Kushinagar. He said that the Constitution of India gives all citizens the right to worship according to their faith and religion. If the Supreme Court has to interfere to protect religion and faith, then it is very unfortunate.
He said that the government should respect all religions and do not take such action at any religious place, which is against the Constitution.
Apart from this, the Congress MLA also surrounded the government on increasing pollution in the Ganges river. He said that Ganga is not only a river, but the center of faith of crores of people. The government has completely failed to fulfill its moral responsibilities. The Namami Gange project, described the government’s dream project, has proved to be completely passive. Still many unintended drainage water is falling in the Ganges, causing the river being polluted.
