Bhopal, Sep 13 (IANS) ‘Congress is in the field for the honor of women’ Hundreds of women activists led by Madhya Pradesh Mahila Morcha president Vibha Patel took out a march in Indore to protest against the brutality of an army officer with his female friend and demanded the resignation of the chief minister.
Women activists said that the dignity of women is not safe under the BJP-led government in Madhya Pradesh. Women are being mistreated in broad daylight and the government has maintained silence. In such a situation, it would be appropriate that the Chief Minister resigns from his post. He has no moral right to remain in his post. Life has become difficult for women under his leadership.
Expressing anger over the Indore incident, Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress President Vibha Patel said, “After the misbehavior with the army officer, it has become clear that the dignity of women is not safe in Madhya Pradesh. Today, Madhya Pradesh ranks number one in women atrocities. A few days ago, a shameful incident came to light in Ujjain. Before this, such incidents have also come to light in Gwalior including Sagar. In such a situation, our question is why women are not safe in Madhya Pradesh? Why are such incidents coming to light continuously? The Chief Minister has the Home Department. In such a situation, he should come forward and answer. We have submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Governor. He should take cognizance of this and the Chief Minister should take strict action against the accused. After all, how long will such cases keep coming to light?”
It is worth mentioning that a heart wrenching incident has come to light from Jamgate, 50 km away from Indore. Here some people attacked an army officer and his female friend. The female friend was also raped. The attackers kidnapped the officer and demanded Rs. 10 lakh in exchange for releasing him.
