New Delhi, October 12 (IANS). National Child Protection Commission (NCPCR) chief Priyank Kanungo has written a letter to the Chief Secretaries of the states demanding to stop the financial assistance provided by the government to madrassas. He also stressed that madrassas should be closed. Now the reaction of Maulana Chaudhary Ibrahim Hussain has come to light on this demand.
He said, “Priyank Kanungo has demanded closure of madrassas keeping in mind the rights of children. But, my suggestion would be that instead of closing the madrassas, the education given there should be modernized, so that the future of the children studying there can be bright. After studying there, employment opportunities can be created for the children.”
He further said, “The education given in madrassas should be modernized. English and science should be taught in madrassas. English teachers should be appointed in madrassas, so that the children studying there can get modern education.”
He stressed, “Many times we have seen that the children who graduated from Madrassas brought glory to the country. He made important contribution to the development of the country. We all have to keep in mind that in madrassas, children from economically weak families are generally taught, so that they can become capable persons in their life, seeing which I would like to say that this closure should be taken into consideration. Would not be appropriate. On the contrary, we have to modernize the education given here, so that good employment opportunities can be created for them in future.”
He said, “The education system given in Madrasas should be changed, because there is no hesitation in saying that the present education system given in Madrasas is not suitable for the children in today’s present scenario. Therefore, I would like to say that first of all changes should be made in the education system. After this, the way should be paved for the recruitment of qualified teachers, so that the future of the children studying here can be bright.”
