The Amrit Snan is the most important ritual of Mahakumbh on Mauni Amavasya and about 10 crore pilgrims are expected to come in it. This year, after 144 years, a rare astronomical coincidence called ‘Triveni Yoga’ is being formed, which further enhances the spiritual significance of this day.
Around 2 o’clock, the sound of a loud siren of ambulances and police vehicles running towards Sangam, the Kumbh Mela area was echoing between loudspeakers resonating mantras and continuous pronunciation of shlokas. The injured were taken to the Central Hospital in the fair area. Relatives of many injured also reached there, as well as some senior administrative and police officers.
Triveni Sangam – Sangam of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati – is considered the most sacred by Hindus, it is believed that during Mahakumbh and especially on special bathing dates like Mauni Amavasya, taking a dip in it is washed away and they get salvation. .
