Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday announced a high -level inquiry to find out any irregularity in the tender process of auction of a hotel in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Shiv Sena MLA and Minister of State Sanjay Shirsat has come under criticism after the allegations of the opposition that his son’s company was one of the three bidders. The Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve raised this issue through a call of attention.

Chhatrapati belonged to the VITS Hotel in Sambhajinagar, a company listed at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Dhanda Corporation. The assets of Dhanda Corporation, including the VITS Hotel, were confiscated under the Protection of the interests of Maharashtra depositors (in financial institutions) Act, 1999. The court ordered the auction of the hotel. Subsequently, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Collectorate took action.

Danve accused of lack of transparency in the auction process. He said that three companies including Messrs Siddhant Material Procurement and Suppliers Company were involved in this process. He said that this company belongs to Siddhant, son of Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat of Maharashtra.

Fadnavis said that Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has said that the entire process has been canceled and a new process will be started to issue new tenders. “A high-level inquiry will be done for a transparent investigation of any irregularity in this case,” he said.

Meanwhile, in another case, Fadnavis reviewed a draft bill to curb Naxalism and its supporters in urban areas. An official said that it will be introduced in the current monsoon session of the Legislature. The Maharashtra Special Public Safety Bill has been finalized by the Joint Secretary Committee of the State Legislature.
