Maharashtra Election 2024 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has made a big political move to settle scores with former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray. Shinde faction has fielded Milind Deora to corner Aditya Thackeray on Mumbai’s Worli assembly seat. Aditya Thackeray has filed nomination from this seat and now Shinde faction has announced Deora’s candidature from this seat.
Milind Deora is considered to have a strong hold in Mumbai and he has been elected MP thrice from South Mumbai Lok Sabha seat. At present he is a Rajya Sabha member and Chief Minister Shinde has given him the important responsibility of defeating Aditya Thackeray. After the announcement of Deora’s candidature, it is believed that Aditya Thackeray is stuck in a tough contest on this seat. Now he will have to focus on his own seat before campaigning for party candidates on other assembly seats.
Aditya’s siege through Milind
After the list of various political parties in Maharashtra came out, it has become clear that interesting contests will be seen on many assembly seats. Everyone’s eyes will also be on Worli Assembly seat because there is going to be a contest between high profile candidates. Even during the Lok Sabha elections, Shinde faction had entrusted the responsibility of election management in Worli area to Deora.
Despite being the stronghold of former Chief Minister of the state Aditya Thackeray, the candidate of Uddhav group had got a lead of only six and a half thousand votes in this assembly constituency. In such a situation, when Deora himself is contesting the elections, the political path of Aditya Thackeray will not be easy. Apart from Deora, Aditya Thackeray will also have to face the challenge from Raj Thackeray’s party MNS candidate Sandeep Deshpande in this constituency.
Milind came with Shinde after leaving Congress
Milind Deora has been in Congress politics for a long time and he resigned from Congress during the month of January this year. He had joined Shinde’s Shiv Sena after he announced breaking his family’s fifty-five-year relationship with the Congress. Later he was made a Rajya Sabha member from the Shinde faction. His father Murali Deora has also been a veteran politician of Maharashtra. The Deora family is considered to have a strong hold in Mumbai politics.
Aditya’s attack on BJP and Shinde
Aditya Thackeray, son of former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, had filed his nomination for this assembly seat on Thursday. Before filing nomination, he had also shown his strength through a road show. A large number of workers of Uddhav faction of Shiv Sena were involved in this road show of Aditya Thackeray. Prominent leaders like Kishori Pednekar and Sachin Ahir were also present in Aditya Thackeray’s road show.
After filing nomination, Aditya Thackeray had launched a scathing attack on BJP and Shinde faction. Aditya Thackeray said that the people of Maharashtra have now realized that BJP is a party that makes empty promises. During the Lok Sabha elections, the people of Maharashtra voted against BJP and Shinde Sena. These people have only done the work of looting Maharashtra and they will know their strength in the assembly elections.
War of prestige for Thackeray family in Worli
Aditya Thackeray’s election is considered very important for Shiv Sena because he is considered the political heir of Uddhav Thackeray. He has to handle the legacy of the Thackeray family in the coming days. Therefore, the election of Worli Assembly seat is being considered as a battle of prestige for Aditya Thackeray as well as Shiv Sena.
Through rebellion in Shiv Sena, Eknath Shinde had forced Uddhav Thackeray to step down from the post of Chief Minister. He has been calling his Shiv Sena the real Shiv Sena. There is a well thought out strategy behind Milind Deora’s candidature. Through Milind Deora, they want to give a big political blow to Aditya Thackeray, who is considered the political heir of Uddhav Thackeray.
